Im Nebelmeer über Plocica

2007/2008

In October 2007, I took part in a research field trip to Plocica, a small, uninhabited island off the coast of Croatia. In the course of my research I became interested in the island’s striking absence from Google Earth satellite imagery, due to the fact that satellite images are available in unequal resolutions for different parts of the world. In response to its absence, I flew a camera-equipped helium balloon over the island to visually capture it from above. I generated an animated map from this material, which I then projected onto the floor using a steerable projection device.
