Laser Scanner

In 2006, I wanted to build a device that could numerically capture its surroundings. This data would then be programmatically processed to archive something parallel to human perception, but focused on the specific challenges that arise in doing this in a naÏve computational way, like converting sampled points in space to meaningful surfaces.

For this project, I used a line laser mounted on a rotating stepper motor, and took pictures from a camera set up next to the laser.
